Herman Miller Eames Molded Plastic Side Chair, Dowel Base

Charles and Ray Eames designed the molded chair in 1950 as the first mass-produced plastic chair, and Herman Miller still makes it. The shell is a single curved piece, now in 100% post-industrial recycled polypropylene, that supports the body without a cushion.

The dowel base pairs the shell with four solid maple or walnut legs joined by steel wire struts, the most recognisable of the base options. The chair is easy to clean and comes in dozens of shell colours.
